Virginia Powerball Winner Claims $1 Million Prize
Dwayne Lowry of Virginia Beach, Virginia, is a very happy man. Lowry is one of the newest members of the millionaires' club after winning an enormous Powerball prize worth $1,000,000 earlier this week. The Virginia lottery winner wasn't planning to buy a Powerball ticket for the January 30 drawing, but after getting some change for the air machine for one of his tires, he decided to buy one Powerball ticket for that night.
Lowry matched five out of six Powerball winning numbers, but not the red Powerball number for the January 30 drawing. He purchased his lucky ticket at Happy Shopper, 209 South Mallory Street in Hampton, who will also get a $10,000 bonus. Had Lowry spent an extra dollar on the Power Play option, he would have had his prize winnings doubled to $2,000,000.
According to Virginia Lottery officials, this is the ninth $1 million Powerball winner in the Commonwealth since November 24—about nine weeks. It seems Virginia is quickly becoming one of the luckiest states for Powerball winning tickets!
