It may sound cliche to say that cats have nine lives, but some may think the story of what happened to Natasha, a Siberian Forest cat from Oakland, is evidence it may be more than just an expression.
What happened to Natasha was bizarre enough to earn her the "Most Unusual Claim Award" by Veterinary Pet Insurance after she was brought to an animal hospital where she was treated for hypothermia as a result of being trapped in a washing machine during a 35-minute cycle.
Individuals who work at veterinary clinics and animal hospitals must have a stockpile of wacky anecdotes.
So, how did Natasha get into the washer? Her owner Daryl Humdy explained: "My roommate was loading his laundry and left the lid to the washing machine open while he went to the next room to grab more clothes," Humdy said in a statement. "He came back, threw his clothes in and shut the lid to the washing machine without realizing that Natasha had jumped into it while he had been away," quotes People.
According to Softpedia, Humdy said that Natasha has always been "very curious about washing machines." Hopefully her curiosity has been satisfied. If she hadn't been fortunate enough to survive the incident, another old expression would be in order: "Curiosity killed the cat."
