Oscar Pistorius was granted bail in a South African court on Friday. Reeva Steenkamp's family is no doubt completely distraught to know their daughter's killer is free.
According to a
report from Hollywood Life, the Olympian was released on bail after he was charged with premeditated murder in the death of Steenkamp, who was laid to rest on Tuesday.
It was on the fourth day of Pistorius's bail hearing that Magistrate Desmond Nair announced his decision.
"The issue before me is whether this accused, being who is and the assets he has [here], would seek to duck and dive all over the world." He concluded, "I cannot find that he is a flight risk. The accused has made a case to be released on bail. I appreciate that a person is dead, but I don't think that is enough."
Imagine how Reeva Steenkamp's family felt hearing the magistrate say, "I appreciate that a person is dead, but I don't think that is enough." Their lives have been ripped apart and Pistorius is walking free until trial. Does it sound to you like the magistrate might have worded his decision better? It almost sounds like he is downplaying the worth of Reeva Steenkamp's life.
Oscar Pistorius allegedly shot four bullets into his bathroom door on Valentine's Day, purportedly believing an intruder was inside instead of Steenkamp. He hit her with three of those bullets and she died before paramedics were called.
Do you think there is any way Pistorius will get off on these murder charges? In the meantime Reeva Steenkamp's family is trying to put the pieces of their lives back together again.
"Everyone is sad understandably, but at certain points we were smiling whilst remembering Reeva because we only have good memories of her," her brother Adam said following the bail decision.

I am available to care about my neighbor in the hospital, about my stepson who will have shoulder surgery this week and my grandson's sudden fear that a raccoon will eat his cat.
But I am not available to care about these people.
Why are you available? How do the lives of these people affect you?
These kinds of obtuse articles make up the yellow side of Gather, a side I venture into at times in order to see if it still exists. If I shame it, so much the better. Like tuning into to Rash Limbo to see if he still is a big fat idiot.
If this woman is your cousin, or something, woo - I apologize! Otherwise, go care about someone within a 1000 mile radius in your own life.
I don't think anyone cares.
The Pistorius famil seems to has a sense of entitlement. His brother Carl is now facing negligent omicide charges from a 2008 collision of his car with a young woman on a motorcycle. he claim is that Oscar P is innocent jus because he was to drunk. Sorry, but plenty of young men committ manslaughter in a car without being drunk.
