South Carolina Powerball Winner Claims $2M Prize!
Congratulations to the latest Powerball lottery winner! According to South Carolina Lottery officials, a Myrtle Beach woman matched five out of six white Powerball winning numbers, but not the red Powerball number for the March 9 drawing. The standard prize amount for a second-tier win would normally be $1,000,000. Luckily, she spent an extra dollar on a Power Play option which automatically doubled her prize winnings to $2,000,000!
Surprisingly, the winner hardly plays the lottery and can count on one hand the number of times she's purchased tickets. It only takes one ticket with the right lottery numbers to win, and her ticket was the lucky winner! The woman woke her husband up on Sunday morning with the happy news that they won $2,000,000. "She almost cried," he told lottery officials. He said he wiped a few tears from his cheek yesterday when they were presented with the check.
The winning Powerball ticket was purchased at the Express Mart on S. Kings Hwy. in Myrtle Beach. The retailer makes out pretty good on their good fortune as well with a $20,000 bonus check. It's a win-win for both! The South Carolina Powerball winners plans to give anonymously to area churches and the local food pantry, and then pay off their home, said lottery officials.
