Taylor Swearengen was reported missing on Friday morning from her Sullivan County, Missouri home. She was last seen going to bed Thursday night, and it appears she snuck out of the house sometime in the night. It's believed that she is in the company of her mother, headed in the direction of Eddysville, Iowa. She is 14, 5'6", weighing about 125, with long, brown hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing a bright blue hoodie with a bright green Under Armour logo, and pink and blue tennis shoes.
Taylor's father had full custody of her, but it appears she has run off with her mother, Angela Guffey, who has pending criminal charges for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additionally, her driver's license is suspended. It's understandable that a girl would want to be with her mother. Children are very forgiving, and the bond between a mother and child is very strong. It does seem she is willingly with her mother, whose Eddyville property has been visited, but she was not found.
This father has every reason to be concerned about the whereabouts of his daughter. There is probably a good reason, perhaps drug involvement, why the father has custody. Of course, it may be that the father had rules, and she didn't like them, and knew that her mother would allow her the freedoms she wanted. Ah, rebellious teenagers. What a joy.
Did you happen to see Taylor Swearengen or her mother? If so, you're asked to contact the Sullivan County Sheriffs Office at 660-265-3313 or call 911 for the local authorities immediately. Hopefully, she is found and returned home soon. It would be a waste for her mother's lifestyle choices to be passed on to her.
