Former Army private Bradley Manning has the audacity to ask his government to let him have hormone therapy at their expense while he is serving his 35 years in prison for leaking confidential documents. And Today.com said on Friday that Manning's lawyer David Coombs is hell bent on making sure the United States military prison has to do it.
"If Fort Leavenworth does not, then I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure they are forced to do so," David Coombs said. But the military has already emphasized that they treat all military inmates alike, and that means that Manning isn't entitled to get something the other inmates are not able to have, which includes sex-reassignment surgery or hormone therapy, according to Today.com.
It's kind of a no-brainer for the average person to understand that a prison shouldn't pay for criminals to have elective surgery of any kind at taxpayer or military expense. In fact, it is kind of outrageous to think that a military person would actually think his government owed him the preferable treatment by doing so, especially after he leaked documents while on the job. Can you see your employer being willing to pay for you to have a tummy tuck at their expense? What about after you gave away their secrets to their competitors?
Bradley Manning can become a woman with hormone therapy after he gets out of military prison for committing a crime, when he can pay for it with his money instead of the American taxpayers.
